Post-Lockdown COVID safety considerations in Student Accommodation

There’s no denying the disruption caused by the 2020/2021 national lockdowns, least of all to peoples working life and education.  We’ll cross our fingers and hope that we have seen the last of them, but the way we all work has probably changed for good. 

When it comes to post-lockdown COVID safety considerations to make, we highly suggest still following the previous government guidance on the following.

  • Mask or face shield wearing in high traffic or enclosed areas
  • Wearing safety/hygiene gloves when carrying out tasks or frequent hand sanitising 
  • Maintaining distance between others

In addition to the above, when it comes to Student Accommodation, Smarter Services will ensure that once cleaned, dorm rooms will have a COVID seal added to the door, ensuring that no one can enter the room between the clean and the new resident moving in. 

Whilst the government has lifted restrictions, we suggest the above measures to ensure the safety of your colleagues, residents and visitors, including those who are not yet fully vaccinated. This is especially important in student accommodation settings as vaccines are only just being rolled out to their age group and they may feel more vulnerable.
